CEZ Donates a Significant Collection of Jiří Kolář’s Collages to the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen

The energy company CEZ has donated a remarkable collection of collages by Jiří Kolář to the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

The collection consists of 66 works by Jiří Kolář, created using various techniques employed by this internationally renowned Czech artist, who lived in Paris. These include collages, chiasmages, rollages, prolages, crumplages, and more. The works span a period from the 1960s to the 1990s, with the earliest collage dating back to 1957.

On Friday, January 10, GWB Director Roman Musil officially received the collection from CEZ Board Member Michaela Chaloupková. Among the distinguished guests at the ceremony were Kamal Farhan, Governor of the Pilsen Region, and Libor Picka, Regional Councilor for Culture, Heritage Conservation, and Tourism. A particularly honored guest was Zdeněk Valeš, former Director of West Bohemian Energy, whose efforts played a key role in assembling this collection of Kolář’s works.

The collection will now undergo expert processing and cataloging before being presented to the public.
