About gallery
The Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen is one of the most important gallery institutions in the Czech Republic. Its collections cover the period from the 14th century to the present day and, in addition to individual top-quality works, contain high-quality collections of 19th century art, turn-of-the-century art and Czech modernism, including a particularly valuable collection of cubism. The collection currently numbers over 13,000 works.
The demanding exhibition programme, publishing activities and the quality of the collections place the Gallery of West Bohemia in Pilsen among the leading museums and galleries in the country. It presents short-term exhibition projects in its exhibition halls. It is open daily except Mondays from 10 am to 6 pm.
GWB is located in the immediate vicinity of the historic square with the monumental cathedral. The gallery uses two historical buildings in the city centre for exhibition purposes - the former medieval market hall, since 1972 the exhibition hall Masné krámy, and the reconstructed Gothic-Renaissance house No. 13 in Pražská Street, the so-called exhibition hall „13“.
